In robotics we have learned about how to build robots with moving parts and a little programming to make the machine remote-control. The rest of the semester we were building our robot by going through a manual on a specific model of machine we were told to follow. Once the robot was finished we had to go to the computer and program a software to control its parts and make it move, it was time to take it to the obstacle course. We were tasked to go through a driving course and also pick up cones and drop it into a bucket. On Fridays our group of four worked on our robotics project
Name of Assignment: Claw Machine
Subject: Robotics
Facilitator/Teacher: Mr. Hazlet
Description of Work/Assignment: To follow a robot instruction manual and create a working claw machine
Which 21st Century Skill do you feel this assignment addresses, and why?
Communication Skills because it was a group work/project. Thinking and Problem solving because we had to make sure if he miss followed the instructions we would have to go back and find our mistake.
What are you most proud of from this assignment, and why?
Having it built in time and was able to complete the obstacle course
How did you develop and/or improve upon your 21st Century Skill with this assignment?
I improved mainly on communication skills because this wasn't a straight forward project so communicating with my partners on what I'm doing and making sure everything is going to plan was key to our success in finishing our robot
What was most difficult about completing this task?
This being my first robotics class and building a claw machine with the materials we got use wasn't difficult but new
How could you improve this work? If you could start over, what would you do different?
Using all of our time wisely some classes we got distracted with creating random but cool objects to add to our robot when we really didn't need to
How does this relate to what you have learned in the past?
This doesn't really relate to anything I've learned before this is my first robotics so everything I've learned is new to me
How can you apply this to future learning?
Creating/inventing new things and working on a team creating something.
